The Old Course is the original and first of three golf courses at The National. Designed by leading golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr, the par 72 6313m course features a generally hilly layout combining amazing coastal views, challenging ball carries and slick, undulating putting surfaces.
The course comprises a number of holes with ocean views, a number of “inland holes” and all are framed by the natural tee tree and Moonah trees which are common on this part of the Mornington Peninsula. The exhilarating outlooks from virtually every corner of this course are a powerful reminder of golf’s ability to stimulate the senses and although now referred to as the ‘Old’ course, ‘Original’ would have been an equally appropriate caption, so unique is the experience.
The Old Course is currently ranked No. 15 in Australia.
